Questions and answers

Short, plain answers about the app, how it treats your money, and this website.

General questions

What is 0pay?

0pay is a wallet for everyday money. You keep separate accounts for euro, USDC and bitcoin, add money to them, pay the people you deal with and see where every amount went. The app never guesses a balance and never moves money without your confirmation.
What the app does for you

Is 0pay open yet?

Not yet. 0pay is opening soon, and there is no date to give. Until then, this website shows the app as it is being built, with screens from a preview build and example data.
About 0pay

Which languages are the app and this website in?

English and Romanian, in the app and on this website. The language you choose in the app is kept on that device and comes before the one set for your account, because a phone may be borrowed.

Which currencies does the app show?

Euro, USDC and bitcoin, each as a separate account with its own balance. The euro account has IBAN details for bank transfers; USDC and bitcoin arrive on-chain, and bitcoin can also arrive over Lightning.

Who is 0pay for?

For anyone who wants to see their everyday money plainly: what they hold, what they paid and what is still on its way. Sole traders use the same app for their own work. Accounts in a company’s name are not open yet.

Is there an IBAN?

Your euro account shows IBAN details for bank transfers. The app groups the IBAN in fours so you can read it, and copies it without spaces, the way a bank’s form expects it. If an account has no details yet, its screen has a button that issues them.
Accounts and IBAN

How do I add money?

Open Add money and choose the account. For euro, make a bank transfer to the IBAN details shown. For USDC or bitcoin, send to the address shown with its QR code; the screen names the currency and the network, because anything else sent to that address may be lost for good. For bitcoin, you can also create a Lightning request for an exact amount.
How adding money works

How do I send money?

Everything starts on one Send screen: a bank transfer, a wallet address or a Lightning invoice. Choose who you are paying, enter the amount and read the review, which shows what you pay and what they receive. Then slide and confirm. A way of paying that cannot be used stays on the list, with the reason.
How sending works

Can I exchange one currency for another?

Yes, between your own accounts, such as euro and USDC. The screen shows how old the rate is, and the amount you get is marked as roughly, because the final amount is set at settlement. If the rate goes out of date, the exchange stops until you refresh it and decide again.
How exchange works

Why is there no total across my currencies?

Adding euro to USDC or bitcoin needs a rate, and a rate is a quote at one moment, not a balance. So each account shows its own balance, Home says in one line why there is no total, and Insights shows one currency at a time.
How Insights works

What does “Recorded” mean on a payment?

It means the payment has been noted but is not yet confirmed as posted. It is not an error and not a failure. The receipt labels it, so you can tell it apart from money that has settled.

Can a company open an account?

Not yet. Accounts in a company’s name are not open, and there is no date. A sole trader can run their own work from the same app, with the same accounts, payees and statements.

Can several people use one account?

No. The app has no team members, no roles and no approvals. An account belongs to the one person who signs in to it.

Can I export my transactions for my accountant?

Yes. In Statements, pick an account and a period, then choose CSV, which opens in a spreadsheet, or JSONL, with one JSON record per line. The file is prepared in the background and appears in the list when it is ready. A download link works once; when it has expired, the row says so and you ask for a fresh one.
Statements and exports

Can I schedule a payment for a date?

No. Nothing in the app pays on a date. A standing order runs when money arrives instead: it converts crypto into euro as it lands, and can send the euro on to a payee you trust. Pausing and resuming an order ask for nothing; cancelling one asks for your confirmation.
Standing orders

Is there an API?

No. There is no API, no API keys and no webhooks for customers. Everything this website describes happens in the app itself, on a phone or at a desk.

Confirmations and signing in

How is a payment confirmed?

Every payment ends the same way. The review shows what you pay and what they receive, you slide to send, and then you confirm. The slide only creates the payment; nothing leaves your account until the confirmation succeeds.
How confirmations work

Can I use a passkey?

Yes. In the security settings you add passkeys and authenticator apps, which are the ways a payment can be confirmed. A second one means losing a device does not lock you out, and the app does not let you remove the last one. There is no password to remember.
Passkeys and authenticator apps

What if I lose access to every method?

The security settings have a way back: “I have lost access to all of these”. You pass an identity check first, then add a replacement. Each step waits for you, and the app does not retry anything on its own.
Recovery

Where can I see where I am signed in?

Sessions, in Settings, lists where you are signed in and marks this device. Signing out there ends the session on this device only, and “Sign out everywhere else” ends every other session while keeping this one.
Sessions

What happens if I enter a wrong code?

The screen says the code is not correct, and you can try again. After too many wrong codes the confirmation closes, the payment is cancelled and nothing was sent, so you start again. Asking for a new code does not give you more time.

Why do the screens show example data?

The screens come from a preview build of the app, filled with example names and amounts, so no real person’s money appears on this website. The app can still change, and the screens with it.
