Exchange
Switch between euro and USDC with a keypad
Type an amount, read what you get roughly, and confirm. The screen tells you how old the rate is, and it never presents an estimate as the final figure.
- The rate shows its age.
- The estimate says “roughly”.
- The final amount is set when the exchange settles.
- The receipt shows the rate that was used.
What the exchange screen tells you before you slide
An exchange turns on a number that moves. The screen is plain about which parts are known and which are not yet.
How old the rate is
Next to the rate, the screen says when it was last updated, so you know how fresh the figure is before you rely on it.
An estimate that says so
What you receive is labelled “You get roughly”. It is worked out from the current rate and is not presented as the final figure.
A final amount set at settlement
The exact amount is fixed when the exchange settles. Until then, the app says it is still settling, and the final figure appears in your activity.
A receipt with the rate used
Once it settles, the receipt shows what was credited and the rate that was actually used, read back from the settled exchange rather than copied from the estimate.
An out-of-date rate stops the exchange
If the rate has not refreshed recently, the screen warns you and closes the way forward. You refresh the rate yourself, so the figure never changes while you are reading it.
An exchange in three steps
Enter the amount
Choose the account the money leaves and the one it goes into, then type the amount on the keypad. One tap swaps which currency you give and which you get.
Read the estimate
Continue to see what you get roughly and how old the rate is. If the amount is below the smallest exchange allowed, the screen says so before you go any further.
Slide and confirm
Slide to exchange, then confirm it is you. Only then does money move between your accounts, and the receipt follows once the exchange settles.
Convert on arrival instead
If crypto reaches your account regularly, a standing order can convert it into euro as it comes in, without you opening Exchange each time. It runs when money arrives, not on a date, and you can pause it whenever you like.
