Accounts and IBAN

One account for each currency you hold.

Euro, USDC and bitcoin each keep their own balance, shown the way it is recorded. The euro account has IBAN details for bank transfers.

Read a balance the way it is recorded

Every figure on your accounts is one the app can stand behind. Where it cannot, it says so in words.

  • An IBAN you can read and paste

    The euro account’s IBAN is split into groups of four, so you can check it by eye or read it out. The copy button takes it without spaces, because many bank forms refuse them.

  • Unavailable until verified

    If a balance cannot be confirmed, the account reads “Unavailable until verified”, with a sentence saying why. A zero never stands in its place.

  • Zero is not the same as no account

    An open account that holds nothing shows a zero. An account still being opened says exactly that. With no accounts at all, the home screen says so instead of showing an empty list.

  • Amounts you can hide

    Turn on Hide balances in Settings and every amount in the app is masked. The mask has a fixed width, so nothing on screen moves and the length of a number gives nothing away.

Balance history

Your balance over a week, a month, three months or a year

Open an account to see its balance drawn over the period you pick, with the low, the high and the latest figure under the chart. The line is read from the balance each movement recorded, so it always agrees with the receipts listed below it. Where no balance was recorded, the line breaks instead of guessing, and “Show the numbers” lists the same figures as a table.

Empty, zero, unavailable

A genuine zero reads as zero, and nothing else does

An open account with nothing in it shows a plain zero, and under Recent the home screen says “Nothing yet” until the first payment. Before your first account is opened, it says instead that there are no accounts yet and that they appear here once opened. A balance the app cannot confirm shows no figure at all, only “Unavailable until verified”. Three different situations get three different screens, so you never have to guess which one you are looking at.

A total would need a rate, and a rate is not a balance. So each account stands on its own, and the home screen says why.

Questions about accounts

Why is there no total?

Adding euro to USDC or bitcoin needs an exchange rate, and a rate is a quote at one moment, not money you hold. A total built on it would change while your balances stayed exactly the same. So the app lists each account separately and explains the choice in one line above them.

How do I copy my IBAN?

Open Add money and choose the euro account. The IBAN is shown in groups of four, and the copy button next to it copies it without spaces, ready for a bank’s transfer form. “Copy all details” takes the IBAN, the BIC and the account holder in one go.

What does “unavailable until verified” mean?

The app cannot confirm that balance right now, so it shows no figure rather than a wrong one. The sentence under it says why: it still has to be confirmed that it is you, the account is still being opened, or its figures are being reconciled. The balance returns once that is done.

Can I hide amounts on screen?

Yes. Hide balances, in the Display section of Settings, masks every amount in the app until you turn it off. The mask is the same width whatever the figure, so the layout stays put and nobody can tell a large balance from a small one.
